BayNewsVideo was there when the historic 2008 presidential election campaign drew to a close in San Diego, providing footage to local Web sites and broadcast news media outlets of the voting and tabulation process in the county.

On a night when the national presidential election motivated a record number of voters to go to the polls, tens of thousands of interested viewers were served. Coverage ranged from providing the voting and views of such candidates as Rep. Darrell Issa, (R) 49th Congressional District, to comments on the election results from Election Central by such dignitaries as Jerry Sanders, mayor of San Diego.
BayNewsVideo provided a full crew on election night, working closely with personnel from SignOnSanDiego.com to coordinate video coverage throughout the evening.
In addition to video acquisition, BayNewsVideo assisted in the capturing, editing, encoding and uploading of the media to the No. 1 news web site in San Diego.
Coverage of local races ranged from congressional races to that of the San Diego city council and city attorney's races.
The media coverage spanned the length of Election Day, beginning in the early hours of Nov. 4 when candidates cast their ballots, to the wee hours of Nov. 5, when the final video file was uploaded.
Highlights of the election included the defeat by San Diego voters of City Attorney Michael Aguirre in favor of Superior Court Judge Jan Goldsmith.
In addtion, three Democrats won three City Council contests in San Diego. Marti Emerald won District 7, Sherri Lightner took District 1 and Todd Gloria, District 3.
